Non-Profit Fundraising & Community Creative Work

Zeta Tau Alpha, Gamma Rho Chapter at Auburn University

An executive team position leading two assistants, managing all digital and written records of the chapter.

  • Upon interviewing for the role, I proposed to the advisory board that I expand the role of the traditional Historian and Reporter. I proposed an extensive plan in my interview to generate greater social media and overall digital presence for the chapter. This strategic plan secured my position on the Executive Team for the Fall 2019-Fall 2020 term.

During my year long term, I succeeded in expanding the role of Historian beyond expectation—taking on the roles of Chapter Social Media Manager, Marketer, Website Manager, Photographer and Photo Coordinator, Graphic Designer, & a Virtual Recruitment Team Member—all to achieve better positioning of the chapter on the digital sphere.

  • Upon winning an election, two sophomore chapter members aided in running smaller, daily tasks on Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook & VSCO. These tasks involved engaging with chapter members, alumni, and other followers daily on all social accounts and posting pre-planned membership appreciation posts if I were unavailable. The committee aided in editing photos and other chapter media to the brand guidelines I had established as needed.

Leading this committee was one of my most rewarding memories of college and I took such pleasure in working with and coaching these two members over the year.

    • Designing a new Chapter Brand Identity

    • Organizing and planning Chapter Social Media for the year

    • Redesigning the Chapter Website

    • Create on-brand Fundraising Graphics for each event

    • A new Fundraising Event Website for Big Man on Campus including the event live stream and history of the event

    • A New Fundraiser Brand Identity for Big Man on Campus

    • Founding and leading a new Historian Subcommittee of two assistants to help edit photos and post on non-primary social accounts like Snapchat and VSCO. The addition created two new leadership positions within the chapter.

    • Taking written and photo record of all chapter events and accomplishments for the year

    • Chapter Photography

    • Digital Account Management

    • Connecting with Alumna

  • While managing all social media accounts, engagement increased by 250% from community and external members, follower counts doubled, and our website and Facebook received more traffic than ever.

When I continued to work as a web designer for the chapter’s fundraising events in 2021, fundraising events were live-streamed for the first time on record. I managed the livestream and chatted with viewers as they were watching. This resulted in hundreds of live views, engagement, and donations.

Updated Logo for Instagram

Staying true to a teal and gray color palette with a little flair for social media.

This visual remained the social media profile picture for the duration of my term. In designing the brand identity or perceived “logo” for social media, I kept it simple, but appealing, and high contrast to catch eyes on an Instagram feed.

For further design work for the chapter, I chose not to constrict my type decisions but strive to achieve the same look and feel through contrast and color. This allowed for more freedom in design choices, allowing the chapter’s social media to evolve as the chapter’s style and needs, as well as my own skills as a sophomore in my design degree, throughout the short, but entirely eventful 2019-2020 year.

On Instagram and social media, the chapter has more freedom to choose the visual representation of the sorority. I chose to stay within the same color family but brighten the tone to match the current members’ personalities. For fundraisers, I did the same thing

Be Creative Award, 2020

The Zeta True Award: Be Creative Award was given to the chapter in the Summer of 2020 for creative efforts across digital platforms and social media that fostered chapter and prospective new member relations in response to the COVID-19 distancing protocols.

Visual and Functional Refresh & Management of the Gammo Rho Chapter Website

After conducting photoshoots for the Executive Team and gathering media from chapter events, I populated images and videos into a redesigned website. Using basic UX/UI principles I learned that year, I restructured the website in Squarespace for better responsiveness, hierarchy of information, and streamlined updates on relevant chapter news. I also implemented SEO keywords and a page-naming strategy that boosted the sites rank on a Google search. These changes greatly benefited recruitment efforts .
